I have owned some LED flashlights before. While they are brighter than old-fashioned bulb flashlights, they are all toys compared to this one. This is a serious tactical flashlight. If I had to choose one flashlight for a camping trip or an emergency kit, it would be this one.

First, it��s exceptionally bright. At its brightest setting, it can illuminate a street sign over a hundred yards away. It��s rated at 2500 lumens. To give you an idea of how bright that is, the legal limit for a car headlight in CA is 1600 lumens.

And unlike a car headlight, this flashlight is zoomable. By stretching the lens away from the handle, the light can be adjusted from floodlight to spotlight. The spotlight narrows the beam, if there is something specific you want to illuminate, while the floodlight can light up a large area immediately in front of you. While walking on a dark path, I normally start with the floodlight, which provides an angle of vision of around 90 degrees, and then occasionally zoom to the spotlight to see further down the path.

There��s a nice feature where you can set the flashlight to act as an ambient light (giving off light in all directions). I haven��t used this, but imagine it could be useful in a tent, or during a power outage. Both the flashlight and the ambient light can be set at different intensities, as well as flashing an SOS signal, or just strobing.

There��s even an extra lens which can focus all the power into enough heat to light a fire. I haven��t tried that yet, but imagine it could be really useful in an emergency situation where you need to light a fire, but have no matches.

A flashlight like this can use a lot of power, so it��s good that it comes with a lithium-ion battery and is easily recharged with a common USB-C cord. A battery as large as the one in this flashlight can also act as a power source to recharge a cell phone or other device, and indeed there is a USB-A jack for power output for that purpose.

All of these features are put together in a well-designed package that Philips felt good enough about to put their brand name on. As they should. The build quality is excellent. I accidentally dropped the flashlight from about waist height with no apparent damage. But if something did break or need replacement, I feel confident Philips would provide support.

Downsides: this flashlight is somewhat larger and heavier than some others I have had. So if you need something ultra-portable, this wouldn��t be the best choice. Still, it is not too large that it doesn��t easily fit in the pocket of my cargo pants. And the lanyard makes it easy to carry. Also, the handle gets noticeably warm after about 10 minutes when the flashlight is set to maximum intensity. Fortunately, this is easily remedied by turning the intensity down a notch or too, and it��s still plenty bright for most uses.

Overall, this is an exceptional flashlight. It does seem expensive, compared to other flashlights you could buy. But you are getting what you pay for.

I received this flashlight a few days after Hurricane Milton. Our power was out for over a week and this flashlight was MVP for me. We had a generator so I fully charged the flashlight once assembled. It took no time to charge as it came almost fully charged. I really like the different lighting options, like the flashlight vs. the lantern-style light. For the situation we were in, the normal flashlight was most helpful. The flashlight was bright enough to light up the room as I walked through our dark house. The flashlight puts out a powerful beam when used outside. It made it very easy to see where I was going in the dark or follow my dog around in the yard and give him light to do his business. When I used the flashlight in spaces like our bathroom, it lit up the room wonderfully. I typically put the flashlight on the counter with the beam toward the ceiling. The light reflected around the room like the power was on. I carried this flashlight with me everywhere in needed light. This is a powerful flashlight and it is heavy duty. I did not use it to charge my phone, so I can't speak to that but it's great to know it does that. I will be using this flashlight on our annual camping trip.

This flashlight is powerful and extremely bright. The button controls are easy to use, and I was pleasantly surprised by the glow-in-the-dark reflector. The ignition feature worked too, which was pretty impressive.
